I love my Teaching Horseback Riding Lessons book! As a teacher, I know howimportant it is to have a good plan when working with young children. Everytime my nephews or friends' kids came to ride I would go check this book out ofthe library. Now that my own grand kids are almost ready for some lessons Idecided it was time to have my own copy. This book also gives information on howto create your own business as a riding instructor. I think it is a realisticlook at how to create a business if you are a rider who thinks they would liketo make some money by giving lessons. It includes chapters on planning yourbusiness, marketing, Summer Camps, legal forms, and all those other things youneed to think about/know before you get started. The lesson plans are greatbecause they address safety, grooming, care of tack, and riding. The author,Sally Cochran, has listed nine levels of horsemanship/riding to provide an easyway to assess a student's abilities and needs. I found this very helpful whenwanting to provide a horse experience that was fun, safe, and not frustratingfor a child. Refreshingly simple instruction that ensures you have considered ALL aspects of the horse and rider before, during and even after a lesson, no matter the discipline. She presented old techniques I had forgotten about years ago and some new techniques that my students had not yet tried. My students have benefited greatly from my study of this book and their parents are even more pleased with the results. Highly recommend it!!
